Ms. Bunmi Lawson is the pioneer Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer and co-founder of EDFIN Microfinance Bank Limited. EDFIN prides itself as the first specialized Education Microfinance Bank with unique and well researched products and services tailored to cater for the needs of its customers and the Education Ecosystem. EDFIN Microfinance Bank under the eminent leadership of Bunmi Lawson officially commenced operations in April 2019 with its registered office at Surulere Lagos State and has projections to grow into a globally recognized bank of choice for education financial solutions in Africa. Its shareholders include Gray Matters Capital, an investment company based in the USA.
Ms. Lawson holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the IESE Business School, University of Navarra and is an alumnus of the Lagos Business School. She is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and a Member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria. She is also a Fellow of the following Institutes: Institute of Credit Administration of Nigeria, Institute of Credit & Collections Management of Nigeria and Association of Investment Advisers & Portfolio Managers of Nigeria.
She is a Board Director in the following companies: Enhancing Financial Innovation & Access (EFInA), Trium Venture Capital Limited and formerly on the board of CRC credit bureau Limited; She is an Advisory Board Member of Bridge International Academies, Nigeria; Vice President, Women in Finance, Nigeria and a member of the Board Trustees Fintech Association of Nigeria.
She has attended several executive courses both locally and internationally at renowned institutions including Harvard Business School, INSEAD and the Boulder Institute for Microfinance and has successfully completed the CBN/CIBN Microfinance Certification Programme. She has presented several lectures/speeches both locally and internationally on Microfinance and other areas of capacity building for small scale industries and young entrepreneurs, SME Financing as well as been part of special workgroups on various issues for the development of the Nigerian economy.
Prior to joining EDFIN, Bunmi was the Managing Executive Director of ACCION Microfinance Bank, one of the largest Microfinance Bank in Nigeria, FATE Foundation Ltd/Gte, a leading business development service provider, a co-owner and Executive Director of VLA Lawrence & Associates, a Human Resources services organization and has over 34 years post graduate experience in finance, insurance, marketing, auditing and banking.
She is a mother with 2 lovely adult children.
Oluwatoyin Mafe is the Head, Operation of Edfin Microfinance Bank. A chartered Accountant with over 10 years working experience as a Financial Accountant, Internal Control/Audit and Operation. Oluwatoyin is a graduate of Accounting from Lagos State Polytechnic and an associate of Institute of Chartered Accountant of Nigeria (ICAN) with certification in Microfinance Bank (MCIB).
She is a passionate Accountant who loves dealing with figures and loves to work in an environment that is involved in the sales and distribution of goods and services. She employs the power of team work to achieve organizational goal. She is a person of integrity, hardworking, ownership Spirit, loyal, dependable and happily married with lovely children.
Oluchi is an experienced banker in the microfinance sector with well over 15 years Banking experience in addition to over 10 years multi sectorial experience in the hospitality industry, investment and Audit firms. She is the immediate past Head, Internal Audit of the Bank and was the chief Operating Officer of Legacy Vineland Microfinance Bank.
Prior to joining EdFin, Oluchi worked and rose to the position of Acting Managing Director at Meridian Microfinance Bank having worked in various capacities as Head of Finance & Administration and Head of Internal Control with wealth of experience in Banking Operations, Relationship Management, Financial Management and Internal Control functions.
Oluchi is an Associate of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ACA), a Microfinance Certified Professional of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria and a Certified Risk Manager.
A Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountant of Nigeria (ICAN) and Certified Microfinance Professional (MCP). Waheed has M.Sc Finance (Unilag) and B.Sc Banking and Finance (OSU).
Waheed has over 20 years' work experience that cut across various institutions and sectors. He started his career in Dipo Dina & Co (Chartered Accountants) as a member of Audit team in year 2001. He later joined Akintola William Deloitte in 2002 where he specialized in Enterprise Risk Services and rose to the level of Audit Senior in 2008 as a Chartered Accountant. In 2008, Waheed joined the specialized Audit team of UBA plc that covered Head office departments and West African region. In December 2011, Waheed moved to Lekki Concession Company Limited (LCC) as the pioneer Head of Internal Audit Department where he set up the department from scratch and managed it to a functional department. In January 2015, Waheed joined Accion Microfinance Bank Limited as the Head, Internal Audit department. In January 2018, he resumed new role as the Head, Risk and Control department and in July 2019, Waheed resumed as the Group Head, Operations in the same institution.
Waheed has been exposed to various trainings both within and outside Nigeria.
